Celebrating 25 Years: Kim England

Twenty-five years ago, the dawn of a new century was approaching. The world was beginning to brace for the potential consequences of Y2K, Toy Story – the first entirely computer-generated movie – was released, Steve Fossett became the first person to make a solo flight across the Pacific Ocean in a hot air balloon, and a small auction website called eBay launched. In the past twenty-five years, over 3 million children have been born as multiples in the United States.

This year’s Twenty Five Year Service Award Recipient has been serving as a National Worker for one-quarter of a century. Her hard work and dedication have shaped the past, present, and future of Multiples of America, as well as the lives of countless multiple birth families across the country.

Kim England first dipped her toe in the water of volunteering with Multiples of America as a Technical Assistant (1992-1993). The following year, she joined the Membership Committee (1993-1994). Kim took a short hiatus for a few years but resumed volunteering with Multiples of America in 1997 as a Research Committee Member and has been continuously serving as National Worker ever since.

During her service tenure over the past twenty-five years, Kim has been instrumental in the creation of many successful conventions. Kim has served on the Convention Committee as Future Convention Chairman (1998-2000), Convention Chairman (2000-2001), Product Promotion Sales (2001-2002), Convention Structure Committee (2014-2017), and even for the past year as Meeting Planner (2019-2020).

Kim first joined the Executive Committee as Secretary (2003-2005) before transitioning to the Nominating Committee. In her role as Nominating Committee Member (2005-2007, 2011-2013), Kim encouraged others to volunteer and worked with other committee members to identify the best candidates for elected officer positions. In between her time as a Nominating Committee Member, Kim joined the Education Department as a District Reporter (2007-2009) before returning to Research and the Executive Committee as Research Vice President (2009-2010, 2013-2015). Kim continued to serve in a leadership role on the Executive Committee as Education Vice President (2015-2017) before stepping up from leading committees and departments to leading the organization.

Kim’s leadership skills have shaped Multiples of America in her many leadership roles within the organization, but perhaps in no role more significantly than when she served as President (2017-2019). As President, Kim faithfully represented Multiples of America and worked tirelessly to lead the organization by her example and commitment to multiple birth families. We are tremendously grateful for Kim’s continued dedication, hard work, and steadfast service.

This year, Kim England joins an exclusive list of fewer than two dozen women who have given an extraordinary twenty-five years of service to Multiples of America. Our ability to fulfill our mission to support families of multiple birth children through support, education, and research are dependent on our members who generously contribute their skills, talents, and time. There’s still time to fill your National Worker application for the 2020-21 Year and help to move Multiples of America forward into the next 60 years and beyond.

Giving Tuesday 2019

Giving Tuesday is December 3, 2019! Multiples of America would love your support on this national day of giving.

Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. We would love your help in fulfilling our mission to support multiple birth families. Your donations can help us achieve that goal!

Multiples of America has been assisting multiple birth families since 1960.  Established for the purposes of education, research and support, Multiples of America is key to the formation of local support clubs throughout the United States.  As times have changed, we have changed as well; technology has enabled parents to access information on the web, but has resulted in less vital face-to-face relationship building and advice sharing through membership in local clubs.  While multiple birth rates continue to rise, membership in local clubs has dropped, and therefore, our membership revenue has continued to diminish.

Multiples of America is dedicated to supporting multiple birth families through education, research and support opportunities.  We need your help to do this!

Multiples of America offers support in the following ways:

  • Research opportunities and partnerships
  • Award-winning quarterly publication, Notebook
  • Annual convention held the last week of July
  • Information on all facets of multiple birth
  • Social media pages dedicated to specific multiple birth topics
  • Organization website full of pertinent information

A Message from Our Membership Vice President

Congratulations to Double Take Mothers of Twins Club of Illinois!!! They hosted a Spa Night for Multiples of America’s recent “I Need a Vacation” contest and almost doubled their attendance with two new perspective members in attendance! Their club won a convention registration to our 59th annual convention in Old Town Alexandria this July. We have some great speakers and workshops lined up and know their club representatives will have a fantastic time and bring home lots of information!
Thanks to all the clubs that participated-it was fun to see the creativity in the meetings across the country – be watching Notebook for pictures soon!#MultiplesAlexandria2019 #supportmultiplied
